Why Every Tea Ranch Blend Has an Animal

The story behind the wildlife that gives our teas their personality—and why nature has been part of Tea Ranch from the very beginning.

If you've spent any time around Tea Ranch, you've probably noticed something a little unusual about our tea collection.

There's a bear. An owl. A rabbit. A butterfly. And several other creatures who seem to have found their way onto our packaging.

They aren't there simply because we thought animals would look charming on tea packaging, although we certainly think they do.

From the beginning, I wanted Tea Ranch to feel like more than a tea brand. I wanted it to have warmth, personality, and a connection to the natural world. Pairing our teas with animals became one of the ways to bring that idea to life.

And somewhere along the way, those animals became part of the Tea Ranch family.

It Started With a Love of Nature

Nature has a way of reminding us to pay attention.

A bird landing outside the window. A rabbit disappearing into the grass. The first butterfly of summer. A sky that makes you stop what you're doing for a moment and simply look.

These are small things, but perhaps that's exactly why they matter.

Tea can offer the same kind of interruption.

You put the kettle on. You wait for the water. You measure the leaves. You give them a few minutes to steep.

For a little while, there isn't anything to rush.

That connection between tea, nature, and slowing down became an important part of what I wanted Tea Ranch to represent.

And the animals gave that idea a personality.

More Than a Pretty Label

When we create a Tea Ranch blend, the animal isn't meant to feel randomly attached to it.

We look for a connection.

Sometimes it's the personality of the animal. Sometimes it's a feeling, a color, a flavor, or simply the mood we imagine when drinking the tea.

That's how a caramel vanilla black tea could become Rise & Roar.

A strawberry hibiscus tea could become Snuggle Bunny.

And a brilliant blue butterfly pea flower tea could hardly be anything other than Bluetiful Haze.

The result is a collection where every tea has its own character.

You aren't simply choosing between black tea, green tea, white tea, or an herbal infusion.

You might find yourself choosing the bear.

Or the owl.

Or perhaps you're definitely a bunny person.

We rather like that.

Meet a Few Members of the Tea Ranch Wildlife Family

The Bear — Rise & Roar

There's something about a bear that feels perfectly suited to a rich black tea.

Bold, comforting, and just a little indulgent, Rise & Roar pairs black tea with caramel and vanilla notes for a cup designed for mornings, chilly afternoons, or whenever you want something with a little more presence.

The bear gives the blend its playful confidence.

It's a tea that doesn't tiptoe into the day.

It rises and roars.

The Rabbit — Snuggle Bunny

If Rise & Roar is bold, Snuggle Bunny lives at the other end of the Tea Ranch personality spectrum.

The rabbit brings softness and a little whimsy to this bright strawberry hibiscus blend.

There's something cheerful about rabbits—the alert ears, the little nose, the sudden hops across the yard—and that lighthearted personality felt right at home with a fruity, colorful tea.

It's also caffeine-free, making it an easy companion for a cozy cup later in the day.

The Owl — Hoo Harmony

Few animals seem as naturally at home with a quiet cup of tea as an owl.

Owls are observant, mysterious, and remarkably adapted to navigating the world after dark.

That quiet presence made the owl a natural companion for Hoo Harmony, our jasmine green tea.

The blend has a delicate floral character, while the owl brings a sense of stillness and curiosity.

A little wisdom for your teacup, perhaps.

The Butterfly — Bluetiful Haze

Some pairings almost make themselves.

Butterfly pea flowers are known for the striking blue color they give an infusion, so a butterfly felt like the perfect creature for Bluetiful Haze.

But we also loved what the butterfly represents visually: transformation, delicacy, gardens, flowers, and summer days.

There's even a little bit of magic in the cup.

Add something acidic such as lemon juice to butterfly pea tea and its blue color can shift toward violet or purple.

It's exactly the sort of small natural wonder that Tea Ranch loves.

The Packaging Is Part of the Experience

Tea is ultimately something we drink, but I don't think that means the experience has to begin and end inside the cup.

I wanted opening a Tea Ranch order to feel special.

That's why our loose-leaf teas live in reusable glass jars rather than packaging designed simply to be discarded.

The tea remains visible, the jar can stay out on a kitchen counter or tea shelf, and the animal artwork makes each blend feel a little like a character of its own.

When several jars sit together, they become a collection.

And that's intentional.

The packaging is meant to invite you to look a little closer: at the animal on the outside and at the tea leaves, fruit, flowers, herbs, and botanicals inside.

Why Wildlife Matters to Tea Ranch

The animals also represent something larger that I hope will continue to grow alongside Tea Ranch.

I have always loved animals, and one of my hopes for the future is for Tea Ranch to find meaningful ways to give back to animal welfare and wildlife-related causes as the business grows.

Wildlife reminds us of the world outside our windows, and of the many small things worth noticing and protecting.

That's a pretty good thing for a tea jar to remind us of.

Finding Your Tea Ranch Animal

One unexpected pleasure of creating an animal-inspired tea collection has been discovering how quickly people connect with particular characters.

Sometimes the tea comes first:

"I love jasmine green tea."

And sometimes it's very clearly the animal:

"I need the owl."

Both are perfectly acceptable ways to choose tea around here.

In fact, we hope you'll eventually discover a favorite of each.

Because behind every Tea Ranch animal is a tea with its own flavor, ingredients, personality, and story waiting to be discovered.

Mindful Moments in a Cup

Tea doesn't need to be complicated to feel special.

Sometimes it's simply a warm mug held between your hands while you watch the morning arrive.

Sometimes it's iced tea on a summer afternoon.

Sometimes it's five quiet minutes you weren't expecting to have.

And sometimes a bear, bunny, owl, or butterfly sitting on the shelf is a small reminder to make those minutes happen a little more often.

That's really what the Tea Ranch animals are about.

They bring personality to our teas, but they also bring us back to the idea at the heart of the brand:

Notice more. Rush a little less. And make room for a few mindful moments along the way.

Yours,
